Upgrading to Out of Office for Jira v4.0.0

On we released the latest version of Out of Office for Jira, version 4.0.0.

This new version introduces two new attributes to the Out of Office object schema:

  1. Alternate Assignee Group

  2. Alternate Approver Group

These new fields allow you to nominate a group instead of an individual user as your alternate assignee or alternate approver. With the addition of two new attributes came extra logic to the automation rules that you would have installed when you first purchased the app. These changes require manual changes to your environment to ensure the app works as effectively as possible.

How to update your configuration

  1. Update your app from the App Manager page in Jira

  2. Navigate to your Out of Office Configuration. If you are upgrading from version 3 to version 4, you should see something like this:

    If you don’t, select Save” to trigger a detailed view of what needs to change.

  1. Press “Retry” on each of the attributes listed. This will create the attribute in the schema you have nominated.

  2. Select Save again, and you should see a success message

  3. Download the automation rules by clicking the Download Out of Office Automations button.

  4. Navigate to your global Automation rules and search for your existing rules.

  5. Rename the automation rules and disable them.

  6. Import the latest Automation rules.

  7. Test your settings by creating a test Out of Office entry
